Snow Storm hits Chicago strongly

Most of you have seen this on TV and Internet but live experience is difference. I live in Chicago suburb area and the area had been badly impacted by the snow storm started yesterday afternoon. It was 2 PM yesterday 2/1/2011 when the storm started slowly and it was snowing until 10 PM slowly and steadily. After 10 PM the storm grew rapidly with winds gusting at 50-60 MPH speed. We had a few important meetings today, my team members and other vendors came from Canada and other parts of the country and we all end up attending a tele-conference from home/hotel. When we woke up this morning the snow piled up around our apartment at around 18-20 inches and our parking lot was under more than 24 inch snow piles. This is not the actual snowfall, due to the winds and drifting the snow had piled up at this level. Chicago’s major airport O’Hare had an accumulation of 20.6 inches and another sub-urb city of Westchester had the same amount of snow fall. This snow storm is third biggest in the history of Chicago and biggest one since 1967.

The better part of the day is no casualties reported so far and the worst part is my apartment admin didn’t helped in digging out our car. I had spent two-and-half hours digging the snow and shoveling it and spreading it all over the road πŸ™‚

I am posting some pics from my apartment here. For more photos, please visit my Picasa Web Albums at:

  1. Better Chicago than DC. πŸ™‚

Last year we had a total of 77 inches. They (storms) kept coming, and coming and coming – one after the other….
