Famous Telugu lyricist, poet, orator, and movie director  Sri Jonnavittula Ramalingeswara Rao garu rarely gives interviews. I had the good fortune of interviewing him not once, but twice for TORi audience. The first of the two interviews took place in Nov 2008.

In this part 1 of the interview, Sri Jonnavittula shared his experiments with lyrics for such songs as 1) Sanskrit disco, 2) thitla dandakam, and 3) Rupee dandakam. We had a light hearted discussion about the sensational hit song: jinthaka thika thika jinthaka tha (Vikramarkudu).

This is a must listen interview.

Participants and the organizers (Srinivas Chennuri, Jaya Burra, Shravan Morishetty and Mohan Venigalla) share their experiences and thoughts on this unique talent search show which was a fantastic success on many fronts.

*** This special about  Sri Ghantasala was broadcast four years ago as Fathers Day special. I am reposting this so as to bring it back to focus on the occasion of Fathers day on June 19, 2011 ***

This special tribute to Sri Ghantasala, the Maestro, was first aired on June 14, 2007 as Father’s Day special. In this episode I profiled Sri Ghantasala as a person and as an inspiration for youth. Later this episode was repeated twice, either in full as in part. Presented in this podcast is only the portion on Ghantasala. I consider this tribute to be one of the best shows I have ever done.

I was very touched by this feedback. I felt proud and happy. After all, in Ghantasala’s own words “An artist’s life is fulfilled when the art touches and makes a difference in people’s lives.” I am not an artist -- I just shed light on a great artist from a different angle.
