CNBC’s Fortnight of Hell (March 2009)

This is pretty much second anniversary of Bear Sterns Collapse. Also, it is almost a year since Jon Stewart destroyed CNBC and Jim Cramer on The Daily Show. It all started with this March 4th episode, when Rick Santelli, a CNBC correspondent excelled his Daily Show appearance. (Rick made news for calling home owners.

This is essentially a recap of a comedian doing hard hitting journalism. These videos are classics. Watch them in sequence. Enjoy!

Thanks Mohan Garu , Classics, I saw the Crammer Vs Jon before. But its a classic. Jon did show some emotions and stepped out of his “we are fake news” mode.

I loved the fact that Santelli blew off Jon Stewart. That his ego wasn’t so big that he had to run into the liberal limelight. Stewart may have thought he would evicerate Santelli, ( he wouldn’t have) but Im glad he was to smart to take their bait. Cramer on the other hand jumped in front of the moving bullet. I also didn’t get why Jon forgot he was a comedian. I think Jon looked foolish too! However, I would like to see Santelli and Stewart a year later. It ends up Rick was on point, the housing plan sucked, Obama canned it within the month. I bet Jon just might be in agreement with Rick!

Rick is alright. he is one of the few voices of sanity on CNBS. He lost credibility when people came to know that his (in)famous rant on the CBT floor was staged. To be fair to Rick, he was consistent in ranting against the banks that screwed. But, he came a bit more heavy handed in criticizing the prey (home owners) while going easy on the predators (banks). I wouldn’t expect any better. After all, he works for CNBS and he thought that Palin is presidential material.

I do not like to label people. Period. We are all conservative on some issues and liberal on some issues. Life is more nuanced than the black-and-white pictures shown to the brainwashed by the drug addicts like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. As with Jon – it is ignorant, if not stupid, to think that he did so because his ego was bruised. Confidence can be mistaken for arrogance by the insecure and the brainwashed.
